Sea of Thieves Haunted Shores update adds ghost ships, new shanties, and more

Rare has released a new free update for pirate sandbox Sea of Thieves, called Haunted Shores. This update brings another NPC ship battle to the seas in the form of spectral ghost ships which have an assortment of powerful cannonballs and mines. These fragile but deadly ships defend Captain Flameheart, aboard the Burning Blade flagship. Players can earn cosmetic rewards and special Damned treasures from the encounter.

Players can enter into battle against the ghost fleet in two ways. The first is by seeing the skull cloud of Captain Flameheart in the skies; this shows that he is attacking an island, and players can move to defend it from his armada. The second is by being level 25 or above with the Order of Souls, which will allow players to purchase a voyage to find and stop a ghost fleet. For the duration of the Haunted Shores event, anyone can purchase that voyage from Duke, allowing every pirate to take a crack at the battle.

Alongside the ships, there are new shanties, and now the Item Radial will expand to a new menu allowing you to select which shanty to play. Several new ones are now available including an exclusive shanty for Pirate Legends. Those who play in Japan, East Asia, South Africa, and the Southeast also have new dedicated servers.

Haunted Shores also adds shanty selection, letting you open up a selection wheel and select whichever song you want to play. We’re getting eight more shanties to play, too, including Maiden Voyage, Stitcher’s Sorrow, We Shall Sail Together. Rare wants to give you options across more emotional tones and let you play whatever’s most appropriate to the current moment.

Other major changes include an updated non-verbal communication system, and newly deployed dedicated servers in Southeast and East Asia, Japan, and South Africa regions. As usual, quite a few new cosmetic items have hit the game as well, which are available via the Black Market and the Pirate Emporium. The Sea of Thieves Haunted Shores update weighs in at around 6GB on the Xbox One family of consoles and Windows 10, while on Steam it will only be 2.6GB. The servers are now up and running as well, letting all pirates jump back in to tackle the new phantom foes. Stay tuned to z2u.com and we will be the first one to inform you all the latest. Besides, our website also offer Cheap SOT Ancient Coins for players.
